Causes that benefit humankind are worth supporting with little things we can do. One such cause called "Help a Child Reach 5" has been circulating around the Internet to urge general public to understand the importance of washing hands among children under fives to prevent unwanted diarrhea, a common and major health concern because of its potential to cause severe, life-threatening dehydration leading to death.
Children, especially those under five are highly prone to diarrhea since their digestive system is quite young still adjusting to the type of food they consume and also their immune systems are not yet fully developed. The most frequent cause of diarrhea is caused by bacteria infecting children through contaminated food and water. The merits of hand washing before we eat our food and after toileting is been told to us through ages. As we know, India is a country where many people especially living in low level areas and slums pay very little attention to their hygiene. And most of them are related to illiteracy, unawareness or careless attitude of an individual.
The Gondappa's story is one such example of how diarrhea has been affecting his family through the years and how grateful he is to have his son reach five. This emotional and touching video stresses the importance of preventing diarrhea in children by a simple act of hand washing.
Our very well known actress and mother, Kajol has urged people to join her in a campaign ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ telling the importance of hand washing in support with Lifebuoy. The campaign aims to provide hand washing programs in villages where the importance of hand washing and eradicating diarrhea is done through donations made online both by the general public as well by Lifebuoy. For every donation made by the public, Lifebuoy will make an equal donation every time the ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ video (above) is shared online either through Facebook, Twitter, Email or Comments.
